Every cat parent has been there. You spend an entire evening scrolling pet shops, carefully comparing ergonomic orthopedic cat beds, researching battery-operated feather toys, and reading reviews for whatever Amazon’s algorithm insists is a non-negotiable “cat essential.” The delivery finally arrives. You excitedly unbox the pristine bed, fluff the cushions, place it in the sunniest corner of the living room, and call your cats over.
The result? They sniff the expensive bed once, walk straight past it, and curl up inside the shipping box it came in.
For the human companion of Bozo and Kitto, two charismatic indoor cats living in Dubai, this isn’t just an occasional quirk—it’s a hilarious daily reality that completely reshaped how she thinks about cat gear.

From Riyadh to Dubai: The 14-Hour Road Trip That Bonded a Family
The journey began with Bozo back in Riyadh in 2023. When he was just six months old, his family faced a major relocation: moving from Saudi Arabia to Dubai on an intense 14-hour overland road trip. Anyone who has ever attempted traveling with a cat by car knows how stressful long journeys can be for territorial, sound-sensitive animals.
“I was worried about how he would handle such a long journey,” his mom recalls. “But he was incredibly calm and sweet the entire way. Bozo has been with us through many changes and ups and downs, so our bond with him will always be extra special.”
That legendary patience and sweet nature anchored the home. But calm waters were about to get a lively splash of energy.
Enter Kitto: 3 AM Zoomies and Wrestling Championships
Not long after settling into life in the Emirates, Kitto entered the picture. Suddenly, Bozo wasn’t an only child anymore—he was a big brother. Introducing a second feline into an established home can be delicate (as we break down in our scent-swapping guide), but these two quickly discovered that their contrasting personalities fit together like puzzle pieces.
The quiet Dubai apartment transformed into an arena of synchronized bird-watching from window perches, playful hallway wrestling matches, high-speed tag games, and, inevitably, the sacred 3:00 AM zoomie sessions that all indoor cat parents know by heart.

The Great ‘Cat Essential’ Reality Check
Like almost every dedicated cat owner, Bozo and Kitto’s mom started out wanting to give them the world. If an ad promised feline bliss, it went straight into the shopping cart. But living with two observant, opinionated boys provided a masterclass in feline pragmatism:
“I buy a beautiful bed, they choose the sofa. I buy an expensive toy, they’re more interested in the packaging and a little ball made from aluminum foil or a plastic bag. And when any delivery arrives, the cardboard box usually becomes the best part of the order.”
In fact, their sleeping choices routinely defy human logic. While plush cushions sit pristine and untouched, Bozo has famously claimed the porcelain bathroom bidet as his personal orthopedic hammock.

And when mom sits down to work at her desk? An ergonomic cat lounger won’t do—a discarded shoe box lid right next to the laptop keyboard provides the exact snug boundary needed for official productivity supervision.

Delivery Day Is Cat Christmas
Whether it’s an online grocery order or lunch delivery from McDonald’s, any crinkly paper bag or cardboard enclosure is subject to mandatory customs inspection. Feline noses plunge headfirst into packaging to smell the outside world, explore new crinkles, and claimed every new vessel as temporary feline real estate.

The Real Essentials: What Indoor Cats Actually Need
After years of trial, error, and ignored designer accessories, Bozo and Kitto’s family distilled indoor feline care down to what truly creates a thriving, enriched life:
- Good nutrition & clean hydration: Wholesome meals and running water (see our water fountain vs. bowl breakdown) keep kidneys healthy in warm climates.
- Pristine litter setup: A spacious, well-maintained litter box with the right substrate (comparing clay vs. natural litters).
- Vertical territory & sturdy scratchers: A solid cat tree (5 best tested models) that allows full-body stretching and watching the world from safe heights.
- Targeted mental stimulation: A few purposeful interactive toys and slow feeder puzzles rather than mountains of plastic gimmicks.
- Human time & affection: Interactive play sessions, routine, and unconditional love.
The Bozo & Kitto Golden Rule
“Buy less, choose what they genuinely use, and never throw away the Amazon box too quickly.”
In a world full of pet consumerism, Bozo and Kitto are a refreshing reminder of what cats have known all along: happiness isn’t measured by a price tag, but by a warm ray of sunshine, a loving family, and a very good cardboard box.
